Shell Core Sands
CUSTOMIZED RESIN COATED SAND -formulation so you can optimize your operation's unique capabilities for your foundry. Resin coated sands are developed to accelerate machine cycle times. The investment rate and cure time of these products is as much as 35% faster than standard products. This results in reduced core and mold cycle times. Super Sands have also demonstrated improvement in uniformity of cure which allows reduced core and mold weights

Note: The metal thickness of inaccessible areas of a mold can be accurately determined by placing a formed ball of F-405 in the spot in question. Close and open the mold. The thickness of the compressed ball will indicate the metal thickness at this point.

DENSITY
Cast steel shot shall not weigh less than 7 grams per cc nor contain more than 10% hollows. The method by which one determines density may be a displacement method or an actual count of the hollows in a mounted polished specimen

Special blends of two or more sizes of Metaltec cast steel shot are available at no extra charge. Pre blended operating mixes for new equipment installations are also available at no extra charge.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
The cast steel shot shall be as nearly spherical as is commercially possible with a minimum of elongated or compound particles, tails, hallows, broken pieces, slag and dirt.
HARDNESS
Ninety percent of the hardness checks performed on a representative sample shall fall within the range of Rockwell C 40-50. The hardness may be determined by any of the various methods applicable to small sections such as a tukon tester with a Vickers indenter, at loads determined to provide a reliable conversion to Rockwell C.
PACKAGING
Standard forms of packaging are: 2000 - Lb. drums, banded and palletized, and 50 Lb. - bags, boxed, banded, and palletized. Other special packaging available at extra cost..

Dry Induction Cements
magnesia-based product designed to be used as a back-up for lining coreless induction furnaces melting all grades of steel and alloys at high temperatures. This product is installed by means of mechanical vibrations. A pure magnesium oxide mix which contains no additives or sintering agents. This results in a refractory that has the highest temp. cap. 55 lb bags.
Silicon Carbide Bonded Cement
High quality carbonaceous refractory cement. Used to join refractory components to crucible products. Silicon carbide based, which accounts for it excellent thermal shock resistance. Contains the glass former B2O3 which reacts with the internal glaze in most crucibles. It also forms a glassy phase in fired cements to increase the chemical resistively and decrease metal penetration. Sold in 50Lb Bags
